Time to dust off the computer and write another review. Thank you for taking the time to check out another review. Mantis reached out to me to review their new training aid. I have been using this for just over a month. I really wanted to try this for awhile before doing a review. Similar to the MantisX I reviewed a couple years ago, I really wanted to see how easy this was to use. Anything that is easy to operate will increase its comfort and frequency of use. This unit is similar to the MantisX X10, but with the knowledge and technology of Steiner, the TOR-X included a green laser integrated into the training aid. It does not matter if you wish to train with a rifle or pistol, MantisX has great training aids available for you.

The big thing about this new unit is that previously you were reliant on your handgun’s sights or a mounted rail laser, you had to add the Mantis on an additional rail or use an adapter. Using the new edition, the combination is available ready to go out of the box. This allows you to use their laser for training and still have your primary unit dedicated for field use. Using the Bore Rail adapter, any firearm is available to use in Dry Fire training. This opens up both revolver and semi-auto firearms. So you can use the same training system and apps with many different firearms. I have been using the Mantis for a couple years and sharing it with friends. The big difference is both in size and in the Steiner design with the integrated laser. This unit is much bigger, but still lightweight and does not interfere with training. The app is still great and offers many different options.

The available options for training is vast.

Using the app is not any different than with the other prior units. The ability to train indoors or in your yard; on just a spot on your home wall, or a mounted target. You can train for many different reasons. Practice aiming, speed, movements, trigger pressure, drills, and even competing with friends. There is a history setting that can show you all your hits, times, mistakes, and how to improve. This last one is a great option that they include. Little hints such as showing your last few hits, you are able to see that with a certain firearm, you may be pulling a little high and to the right. The app will show you each hit, the sequence, and also give you suggestions on how to improve. You do another set, and compare your results.

This is a great ability to have without dispensing live ammo at home, or having to drive to a range every time you wish to train. This is something I like, I can train for a few minutes each day after work if I am busy. Or train a few courses on a weekend when I have the time to focus. I feel that training and education is a great asset and you cannot get enough of either.
The Bore Rail mount that I have been using for my training is available in a 4 pack and covers 9mm, 380ACP, 38 Special, 357 Magnum, 357 Sig, 10mm, 40S&W, 44 Magnum, 45ACP, and 45 Colt. https://mantisx.com/collections/rail-adapters/products/br4-bore-insert-picatinny-rail-adapter-set. Do not forget, this can only be used with Dry Fire training….

Rather than writing all the data on the TOR-X here, all the information is available on Steiner’s website. https://www.steiner-optics.com/products/tor-x.
